new hampshire...

So, I haven’t updated in a while. It’s been a little crazy around here for the last 2 weeks. Two of our former students got married on the 18th in New Hampshire. All of the staff (expect for 1 family) went up for the wedding. It was quite a fun road trip! It was my first time in New Hampshire and I was very excited to by staying around Lake Winnipesaukee.

We (the staff) were able to stay together in someone’s summer home. Check out our lovely view!

We arrived on Friday night and the wedding wasn’t until Saturday night. So we had the day to spend in the quaint (tourist) town of Meredith.

We got some lunch and had some coffee. We also stopped at the great little candy store and sampled some TASTY fudge!

The place where we were staying had some golf carts so my and my friends took a little drive down to Lake Winnipesaukee.

One of the best things about the wedding is that my friend, Anne was in it. She’s from Germany and I seen her since last summer. She came a few weeks before the wedding to spend some time in New Haven. It was soo nice to have her around again! But now she is back in Germany and I’m back in New Haven. I’m hoping to her again early next year, Lord willing! :-)

refreshing...

So, this past Monday, i walked up to our (YWAM's) offices, as usual. I unlocked the doors, as usual. I walked up the stairs, as usual. But when i reached the top, there was something, somewhat unusual. People! Well, different people. You see, the summer is when our staff takes time off; to visit family, raise funds, etc. So for the past 2 to 3 weeks, it had just been me and my friends (and co-workers) Kathy and Christine (her husband has a "regular" job so i would only see him randomly). Anyhoo, everyone is starting to get back from their time off and now the office is slowly starting to fill up! It's just really nice to have my New Haven family back!

new artists....

Well, they are new to me. Last saturday, i found this great book in the library. I justed LOVED his style! So, i got on the net and found a few more like him. The look is pretty commerical retro. Something you might see in an advertisement or in a children's book in the 50's or 60's. I just LOVE it! I guess i thought i should share:

This is Jim Flora. He did a lot of record covers in his early years...

This is Tim Biskup. He's a contemporary. Some of his stuff is a little too psychedelic for me...

This is Mary Blair. You may recognize her stuff if you ever watch Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan... just lovely...

"kelly day"

Last Saturday, i decided to spend some time with me. Partly because everyone else was busy, or not intown. But partly because i like having 'alone time'. But that doesn't mean just hanging around the house, oh no. I got out and about. I took some pics so you could tag along!
Here's me starting out. Got my music and my backpack...

Well, it's Saturday so the first stop is a tag sale. I saw a shirt that i liked, but i didn't buy it. One of my favorite parts about "kelly day" is to see how little money i can spend. I know, i'm weird.

Then i stopped at Nica's Market. I already had a sandwich but i needed some 'chippies' and water. p.s. these chips are TASTY!

This is just a house i really like and i finally took a picture of it!

This is Audubon Street; one of my favorite streets in New Haven. There's a great coffee place, a sweet (but expensive) bead store, and the school where i took my painting classes, all on this one street!

Next stop: the New Haven Free Public Library!! Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite place in New Haven! I can "waste" a lot of time here.

Here's me in the art sertion. I spend most of my time there and the dvd section.

I found myself a couple of books...

After the library, i walked across the New Haven Green. They were getting ready for a concert that night. i think it was Patti Austin.

Another picture of the Green.

I just kind of like this part of the sidewalk...

Yes, it's the Bow Tie Criterion Theatre! i decided to go to the movies by myself. i've probably only done it 3 times in my entire life. it's not what i prefer but i had fun today. p.s. i also had a gift card for $5 so i got to see the movie for $2!

Here's me in the women's restroom. Ok, strange. But i liked the tile colors, though you can't really tell in this pic.

Do you think i'll find a seat?!

While waiting i decided to read some more of my book. Don't laugh, the book is WAY better than the movie!

Here's a pic i took on the way home. Kind of nice...

Another pic on the way home...

A pic of my slightly tired feet.

I had a friend's birthday and i was in charge of making the cake. So "kelly day" only ended up lasting till 4ish but that's cool. I'll make it up to myself later! :-)

isn't she a beaut?

it's it lovely? that's my new bike. i had been wanting one for a month or so, but i didn't have the funds. well, i was talking about it with my good friend, Rachel (Hans as of last saturday) and she wanted to pay me for singing at her wedding reception. it was my pleasure to sing at the reception and i told her not to worry about it. but she insisted and asked if she could buy me a bike for payment. i believe my exact words were, "heck yeah!" so that night we got on the internet and ordered my bike. it was waiting for me when i got back from texas! it just makes going back and forth to the office a lot easier and faster.
i like my new bike!!
